Vaiaso o le gagana Sāmoa - Samoa Language Week

Talofa Lava Whanau and Friends of Aroha 4

Week 5 has started off with a bang!! It is Samoan Language Week we are so very blessed to live in such a diverse country where we embrace other cultures. We started off with the raising of the Samoan Flag. We have been exposed to the language and the national anthem which we loved hearing our fellow Samoan students in Aroha 4 sing with pride and honour.

Koko Alaisa... We are pros now!! A huge thank you to Mary (Paulines mother) for coming in and lending us a helping hand. We went through ingredients, equipment and the steps we took as a class to make this lovely traditional Samoan dish.

Here are two of our students who dressed in the Samoan attire.

Keep our school clean!

Aroha 4 have been lucky to be on rubbish duty this week. We have been using our PB4L pride values to take on this duty and try our best to do our part. We love the saying 'ones trash, is another's treasure'. Here is our lovely Niah finding a lovely flower during our rubbish duty.

You are a Star!

We appreciate you Miss Henry. This week we celebrated our Support Staff. Without Miss Henry we wouldn't have such a smooth sailing classroom. She helps us not only when were happy but also when were sad she makes us laugh and makes Aroha 4 that much better. You are a Star Miss Henry!!

We were very lucky to get a visit from Hiwi the Kiwi. They taught us about the importance of life jackets when we go out on a boat not only for us children but our parents.

Congratulations Shania for getting the Empathy Certificate. You are a star! Awesome assembly Tumanako!

Week 2- Opera, FMS and Mothers Day!

We were very lucky to have been visited by Opera NZ where they blessed our ears with lovely Opera singing. To show our appreciation we made a card and had a little fun whilst making it. Here we are getting into Opera singing character!

First week of FMS and boy did they give us a workout. We had so much fun learning new skills- running on the line, balancing on one foot and with something on our head. We can't wait for next week.

Card making for a special woman figure in our life. We are so lucky to have our buddy class come and help us make these cards. We had so much fun getting hands on gluing. As you can see we were very proud of ourselves and excited to give it to our special person.

Aroha 4 had an awesome holidays. We are back and we are ready to learn. This week we came back with happy smiles. We got straight into Reading and loved our activities- cut and paste, favourite part and reading in the library.

In Topic we are learning about What is so special about Water? We brainstormed together what we use water for. We had very good ideas and were all very excited to participate.
