Week 4 with Big Smiles :)

In Aroha 4 for Topic we are exploring the different cultures in our classroom. We are very lucky to be in such a diverse class with individuals being Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island,Fijian, Australian and New Zealander! We focused this week on food and how each country has a "special food".

Along side the help of Miss Zinck and Mrs Davey we made fairy bread. A well known plate at New Zealand birthday parties. We prepared our ingredients- bread, butter and sprinkles. Here are some cheeky photos of us enjoying it.

After an awesome day ended with fairy bread. Smiles continued after school with Meet the Teacher. Awesome turn out from parents and students in #Aroha4. There are hampers up for grabs! Best of luck to those parents that attended you are in with a chance. Miss Zinck has her fingers crossed for you to win.

We have been busy this week!

We love to help those in need. Here is a photo of Armani- Lee & Trevahn wearing red. Yesterday we wore red to raise money for heart foundation and heart kids.  It was a great turn out. A big thank you to parents who donated, we can't do these fundraisers with out you.

We also love to make sure that our school is kept nice and clean. Here we are learning to take care of our school. In doing this we are showing participation- helping all together, respect- for our school and determination- to make sure we keep our school clean.

Aroha syndicate had their first assembly and here are the two students from our class Aroha 4 that received awards. Congratulations Zjayden and Ivana you are awesome!Keep it up!

Our first powhiri practice

Kia Ora,

We had our first powhiri practice which was very exciting being altogether with Tumanako and Whakapono. We were able to sing along and learn some traditional Māori hand actions to the songs. We can't until friday where we experience our first powhiri at Rowandale.

We are so LUCKY!

In Aroha 4 we are so lucky to have a new gadget in our class. We have an Activ tablet to help us with our learning. Here is a photo of us singing along and counting monkeys. We are ready to make good use of this Activ tablet.

In shared reading we have been reading the book 'Dog'. Here is some of our work we did! Feel free to pop by and check it out in the window!

Aroha 4 meet buddy class W19

We are so lucky we have W19 as our buddy class. They were kind enough to come over to our class and do one to one reading. This was our first time doing a follow-up activity after reading our books. We had so much fun doing it with our buddy class. They were very helpful.  We cant wait for the next time we see W19. Participation is apart of Rowandales PRIDE values and it is awesome to see everyone was actively engaged and participating.
