Stardome with a little extra!

Hi Whanau,

It is only Wednesday and we have been busy this week!Today at Stardome Josh was our guide and he helped us to learn about the Solar System.  We learn't how far the planets are away from each other. We also got to go into an exciting area where we explored all the fun gadgets and got hands on with a gravity activity. Lastly we went into a show that helped us find Plutos home via a great song that got us all clapping.

Check out our photos from TODAY!!

Extra updates!!

An update with our seeds! They are growing so fast we come back every morning and they get bigger and bigger!!

We have been focussing in Math warm up on finger patterns. One student will stand in front of the class and hold up a finger pattern. The rest of the students say aloud the number of the finger pattern. It has been a fun way to improve our finger pattern knowledge.

Enjoy the rest of your week Whanau!

Week 2- Procedure Writing

This week in writing we have been focusing on procedure writing.  To help with our understanding we have been doing hands on activities. We used what we had in class to make a small fruit salad.. Apples and Oranges. We talked through the steps we did to make this fruit salad. Talking helped us to understand the procedure so when we go to write it will be fresh in our minds.

We linked this to our Hauora. Eating healthy foods is important. We are learning what foods we can eat lots of, sometimes and a little bit of... Oreos is not something we can eat lots of!

Another hands on experience we had in class was planting a seed. Aroha 4 learnt that there is a procedure you go through to plant a seed. Then when you nurture this seed it will grow. We used recycled bottles, soil and pea seeds. We can't wait to see our seeds grow!

We are excited for Week 3! Bring on the trip to Stardome!

Fakaalofa Lahi atu and Namaste

First Day back with hats on. We are ready for you Mr Sun!
Fakaalofa atu and Namaste! We are back and rolling. This week we have been lucky to come back to school with not one but TWO language weeks... Niuean and Indian!!

Our challenge for Niuean language week was to make fresh coconut cream. Aroha 4 alongside Aroha 3 were lucky to have Miss Henry to show us the ropes.

We used:
- 2 coconuts
- Knife
- Bowl
- Coconut scraper
- cloth

We were lucky enough to look, feel and taste the coconut. Some of us liked it others not so much but it was a great hands on learning experience.

Miss Henry demonstrated how to sit without hurting yourself because it is very sharp! We also learn't the technique to scrap and the movement. Miss Zinck was very uncoordinated!! To end our coconut making session we coloured in and admired the Niuean Flag.

Week 7

We were lucky enough to get in a chance to swim! It was so much fun. We practised hopping in the pool and holding on to the bar. We also go...
