In Maths our strand focus is Geometry. We were very inspired by Aroha 2 learning outdoors. So we went outside and looked at the spiderweb:
Things we were looking for:
- How many shapes did we estimate we would see?
- How many shapes did we count?
- What shapes can we see?
We loved going outdoors to do math and see how shapes can be found in different places.
We also tried having four stations in maths
1- Drawing shapes (geometry) and Number writing
2- Sticks (creating shapes)
3- Cubes (patterns)
4- Foam Shapes
It was a huge thumbs up from us! We loved having the choice to choose where we went and the freedom to change when we wanted to.
Lastly we had a spontaneous visit from Mr Vasau and we were very excited! Thanks Mr Vasau for popping in!

Full on Week 4
Week 4 started off with welcoming a new student into our classroom- Aziza! Having new students we have gone over our classroom treaty and Pride Values.
Aroha 4 were very proud to have won Inspector-O for the week. Inspector-O has very watchful eyes over our cloak bays to ensure they are kept in tip-top shop.
Unfortunately FMS was canceled this week so we joined with Aroha 7 to do some fitness. We also learn't a game that is played in FMS. Boy oh boy that was fun and Braxton did an awesome job nearly winning.
We enjoyed in maths dancing and singing along to counting in 2's.It is learning how to count in 2's with a physical aspect. We also enjoyed Letters and Sounds writing the words on the whiteboards. We are improving on segmenting and blending our words!! Wooohooo!!
Our week ended with an awesome shared book lesson. We all read it together and followed our classmates who were leading. Well done to everyone that had the courage to get up and lead reading the shared book.
